Turning Leaf Technologies announces support for RBdigital Magazines in Aspen Discovery

(August 15, 2019). In conjunction with Record Books, Turning Leaf Technologies has integrated RBdigital Magazines into Aspen Discovery. With this integration, all magazines purchased by a library are immediately added to the online catalog where patrons can easily find them. If a library owns copies of the physical magazine in addition to the online magazine, the two are grouped within search results.

The New Hampshire State Library has selected Auto-Graphics' SHAREit, bringing the next generation in resource sharing software to the state

(August 14, 2019). Auto-Graphics announced that its cloud-based resource sharing solution, SHAREit, has been selected by the New Hampshire State Library. The New Hampshire State Library, the oldest state library in the United States, will use SHAREit to support the New Hampshire Automated Information System (NHAIS) which includes the 234 public libraries in the state as well as academic, school, and special libraries. A-G has a strong history of serving statewide systems supported through state libraries.

Throughout his professional career, he has served on working groups, organization boards, and committees dedicated to promoting and creating open technologies, and making research, data, and scholarly activities available to the public. His latest endeavor, leading the merger of international nonprofits DuraSpace and LYRASIS, continues his professional influence in the areas of open data, open source software, and open scholarship to benefit future advances in the sciences and humanities.

(August 12, 2019). Das Dokumentations- und Kulturzentrums Deutscher Sinti und Roma verwaltet seine Medienbestände seit Juli 2019 neu über das Open Source-Bibliothekssystem Koha. Der elektronische Bibliothekskatalog umfasst rund 13'700 Titeldatensätze, wobei die bisher separat gehaltenen Kataloge für Druckwerke, Musik und Videos zusammengeführt wurden.

OCLC, the nonprofit technology organization and global library cooperative based in Dublin, received a Diversity in Business Award representing large organizations in Central Ohio.The Awards program, administered by Columbus Business First, recognizes inclusive organizations and individuals in Central Ohio. The program highlights excellence in encouraging diversity in age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race and religion at local workplaces.

Five academic publishers to advise on development of the Rialto Marketplace

(August 9, 2019). A group of renowned global academic publishers have announced that they will contribute their expertise to the development of ProQuest Rialto. Rialto is a comprehensive marketplace that enables libraries to acquire content from a variety of publishers and platforms. Emerald Publishing, Oxford University Press, SAGE Publishing, Taylor & Francis Group and The University of Chicago Press will work with ProQuest to shape the new product. These publishers join a group of 10 academic libraries who have also signed on as development partners, ensuring a three-way, content-neutral conversation between libraries, the publishing community and ProQuest, a leader in educational technology. Rialto will be initially available to its development partners in December of this year before its broader launch.

Three more authorities go live with SirsiDynix BLUEcloud library services platform

(August 8, 2019). SirsiDynix is pleased to announce that three more Welsh authorities have gone live under the All Wales Library Management System framework agreement. Torfaen County Borough Council, Carmarthenshire County Council and Newport City Council went live on the single shared SirsiDynix library system, bringing the total to 18 out of 22 Welsh authorities to join. SirsiDynix welcomes them to the All Wales single shared system.

Public Library Association condemns Macmillan Publishers library lending model

(July 31, 2019). The Public Library Association, a division of the American Library Association, has joined its parent organization in denouncing Macmillan Publishers' new library eBook lending model. Under the new model, scheduled to take effect November 1, a library may purchase only a single copy of each new title in eBook format upon release, after which Macmillan will impose an eight-week embargo on additional copies of that title sold to libraries. The new Macmillan eBook lending model expands upon an existing policy that took effect in July 2018, when the company, without warning, issued a four-month embargo applying solely to titles from its Tor imprint.

Evergreen Names New Core Committers

The Evergreen library system community named two new core committers at their recent Evergreen International Conference, Jane Sandberg of Linn-Benton Community College and Jason Boyer of the Indiana State Library. The 13 active core committers are entrusted with the responsibility of approving new code for Evergreen's semi-annual releases.
