Patron Point integrates Communico Events Feed

(May 6, 2020). Patron Point announced it has integrated the Communico events feed into its marketing automation platform. Mutual customers can now automatically pull events they have listed in their Communico events system and seamlessly include them in Patron Point campaigns. The events can be promoted in one-off emails, as part of newsletters, or within the day-to-day notices such as hold pick up notices, courtesy notices and overdue notices sent by Patron Point. The integration has been piloted with Delaware County District Library, Ohio.

Maurice York appointed Director of Library Initiatives

(May 6, 2020). The Big Ten Academic Alliance announced that Maurice York has been appointed as the new Director of Library Initiatives, effective May 21, 2020. Headquartered in the Midwest, the Big Ten Academic Alliance is the nation's preeminent model for effective collaboration among research universities. Lower Umpqua Library District goes live on Koha with ByWater support

(May 6, 2020). ByWater Solutions, announced today that Lower Umpqua Library District, Reedsport, Oregon, is now live on Koha. ByWater completed the transition of the libraries' 14,000 plus holdings from LibraryWorld ILS and is providing ongoing support services to the library.

Announcing NISO's Draft Recommended Practice for Reproducibility Badging and Definitions

(May 5, 2020). he National Information Standards Organization (NISO) is seeking comments from the information community on the draft recommended practice, Reproducibility Badging and Definitions. Following on the landmark U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) report, Reproducibility in Science, this Recommended Practice, developed by the NISO Taxonomy, Definitions, and Recognition Badging Scheme Working Group, provides a set of recognition standards to be universally deployed across the scholarly publishing output. Comments will be accepted through June 18, 2020.

McGraw-Hill and Cengage jointly agree to terminate planned merger of equals

(May 4, 2020). McGraw-Hill and Cengage announced that they have mutually agreed to terminate their proposed merger of equals, which had been announced in May 2019. The decision was unanimously approved by the Boards of Directors of McGraw-Hill and Cengage. The Termination Agreement foresees no payment of a break fee on either side.

(April 30, 2020). OverDrive announced that the award-winning Libby app is now compatible with all Sonos wireless home sound systems. When a user connects Libby to their Sonos speaker system, they can enjoy popular audiobooks, learn a foreign language, or entertain the kids throughout the house by accessing tens of thousands of titles from their public library. To get started, users only need the Sonos app, the Libby app – available from 90 percent of public libraries in North America – and a valid library card.
